English Rose - Tutorial

I was playing this afternoon, trying to get my peony die flowers to look a little more like a peony... and ended up creating these little lovelies!!  To me they look like the gorgeous David Austen Roses, those thick damask style roses I adore... and so, I have called them "English Roses".  I hope you like them!

Pink Cardstock {or preferred colour}
Donna Salazar's Mix’d Media Inx by Colorbox, Jasmine
Clearsnap Glue Gloss, Brad, Water Mister, Heat Gun

Cutting Machine {Spellbinders Grand Calibur, Provocraft Cuttlebug etc}

Using 4 varying sizes of petal dies, cut 5 each of the 2 larger petals, 4 of the next and then 3 of the smallest one.

Layer all the cut petals, smallest to largest, with all the petals offset from the next.  Secure with a brad.

Mist with water, top and bottom and between the layers.

Fold up one petal at a time, layer by layer, over the top of the brad, 'squish' the petals into the center as you go, keeping a tightly formed ‘bud’.  Spray more water as needed through the layers to keep the cardstock wet and malleable.

Once done, swipe the white ink across the top of your closed flower, and then spray with more water to allow the ink to bleed.

Dry with a heat gun, helping the outer layers open slightly.  It will take time to dry right through, leave overnight if your heat gun is very hot… to save burning the paper.    Once dry, touch the petal edges with glue gloss and then sprinkle with fairy dust glitter.

I hope you like these!   If you would like this in PDF format click HERE for a link.

Butterfly - TM's Project Pack

At Tomorrow's Memories, us girls on the Design Team make up easy grab project packs for the store, and so often I forget to share them with you!  This one I finished on Thursday, and took the kits, all ready to go, in on Friday... already they are selling fast {I am happy, it's always so exciting to see something you created wanted by others}!

I really had fun with this layout... it's simple and uncluttered and happy, even with the earthy tones.

There are always plenty of great packs to choose from, so if you're in Perth, pop in and have a look... it's a great way to get your photos scrapped and the packs are always so well priced!

You can also send in an order and they'll post them out to you, the shop has photos of the packs for sale on their website, updated bi-monthly - click HERE to see them all!!

Trinket Box

Hi everyone!

This weekend just gone I  turned a simple little balsa wood box into this sweet trinket box for Green Tara...

I was dying to see how well the banana fibre papers would go used like tissue for covering items... it was so easy to work with!  I adore the fibres showing through, giving it such wonderful texture.  I used Inkssentials Glue'n'Seal to adhere the banana fibre paper and while still wet applied some Tim Holtz stains and blended them through with more Glue'n'Seal.

I cut up some of the Silver Stems to pop into the ribbon bow, they add such a delicate sparkle to everything.

I love the little metal embellishments Green Tara stock, they are so easily transformed if the silver isn't working for your project.  Just give them a thin coat of acrylic paint or gesso, then when dry add another coat and then add some stains for more colour.

The Silk Flowers with Swarovski Crystals have become a favourite of mine, they are simple so sweet with that gorgeous sparkly center.

Until next time, take care,
Mis xo

Perfect Fit

Hi everyone!  Another guy style LO... loving having some pics of Kel, but already need more {bribery time}!

These papers are from Donna Salazar's Spring in Bloom Collection... I love that there are quite a few in the range that work for masculine layouts as well!  I had some left over papers {... and inks, and mists... and and and... Donna was sooooo generous} after submitting my projects for the 2nd round of the DSD DT Call, so I've kept playing... anyways, keep your fingers crossed for me, not long to go now!!

The finish on the Manilla Tag was inspired by Donna Salazar's Mix'd Media Inx tutorial.  I inked the edges, misted with water to let the ink run and then while still wet touched it with more ink and sprayed with Smooch Spritz.  You can see Donna's tutorial HERE, it's well worth a watch!

The little puzzle pieces were touched with Mix'd Media Inx and then embossed with various colours, afterwards they were touched with Mix'd Media Inx ReInker and spread over the embossing so it was left in all the bare spots.

Love the corrugated board, it too was inked and then embossed and then sprayed with Smooch Spritz.

Love {yeah I know, there's a lot of loving happening lately on here} Spellbinders Shadow Flowers die, it's one of my favourites!  I cut out the shadow flower, inked the edges with Mix'd Media Inx, misted it with water to get the ink to blend and then sprayed with Smooch Spritz and finally dried it with a heat gun, love how it creates pockets of deeper colour where the Spritz has pooled.

So it was just a simple LO but I had lots of fun creating it - aka making a mess, it was quick and relaxing and I got to play... I love to play!!

Kel [Courage]

Just a quick little share, I was in the mood for a boy style LO and have used a Pagemaps Sketch here for some fun!  This is just an iPhone shot of Kel playing on his iPod... this would have been the best present we have ever bought for him, his favourite use for it is to listen to podcasts while doing the dishes!  Although this wasn't about his iPod... it's about how he always just does his own thing, goes against the crowd and has his own mind, hope he holds that always.

Shhhh... don't tell him, but I snuck a handmade flower onto the LO!  My excuse is it works... it's denim and the stripes match his shirt!

The little owl is there because that's his 'thing' right now, he's into everything owls and has a nice collection in his room.  I picked up that charm from Tomorrow's Memories, they've always got sweet little trinkets here and there!

The leaf charm and pebble were from Handmade Halo, my online stop off for all my trinkety bits!!

Dusty Attic Grass Border... again, yes!  I am really in love with this piece.  I've treated this one really simply, just some SmoochSpritz in Woodstain and Olive Vine, then crackle accents over the top.
